Ruhle claimed that President Trump’s State of the Union speech was ‘wildly divisive’ because he didn’t give Obama credit for the booming economy. “He’s the least gracious person in that person,” said Ruhle about President Trump.
“If he added some graciousness–you know, when he talks about African-American unemployment rate, he’s right, it is at its lowest. But it’s due in part to President Obama,” said Ruhle without evidence.
“Would it not help president Trump’s messaging if he gave a hat tip to the last administration and then said, but I’m doing X, Y, and Z to further it? Instead, he’s wildly divisive but then says a few words about unity. That’s meaningless,” said Ruhle. This is why MSNBC is Fake News.
President Trump’s speech was highly unifying for those that care about this country. Maybe not so much for Democrats. “I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people. This is really the key. These are the people we were elected to serve,” said President Trump in his speech.
However, not everyone likes this message. MSNBC’s Joy Reid tweeted “Church … family … police … military … the national anthem … Trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism. The goal of this speech appears to be to force the normalization of Trump on the terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for. #SOTU.” Maybe these aren’t people you want to unite with.
